Job Description

The role is a site based engineering role reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.  As such the role carries a high performance requirement in meeting and exceeding Health and Safety standards, quality standards and applying your training, experience and knowledge to the role.  To do this your role will include the following expectations:

  • Site Surveys and assistance in tendering projects
  • Site Surveys and offering recommendations and remedial works
  • Undertaking maintenance on a variety of HV and LV equipment
  • Understanding and knowledge of various manufacturers HV and LV equipment
  • Fundamental understanding of protection relays such as:
    • Auxiliary
    • T154
    • Micom P varieties
    • Earth fault
    • Over current
    • Any others as may be required
  • Fault finding and emergency call out to service customer needs
  • Good understanding of electrical system reading drawings etc.
  • Isolation and earthing practices as an authorised person
  • Undertaking full SAP duties
  • Permit issue and acceptance
  • Working with a variety of mineral oil products
  • Maintenance on mechanical parts of electrical equipment
  • Good understanding of test equipment and how to use them correctly
  • Commissioning new equipment into service, both hot and cold commissioning
  • Approving risk assessments and method statements
  • Driving a van during business hours
  • Adhering to FORS Standards and Company driver policies
  • Representing the company in face to face with clients

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Use of specialist HV and LV test equipment
  • Team worker
  • Aware of various legislation and regulations pertaining to electrical works
  • Good at building interpersonal relationships
  • Knowledge of Electrical systems
  • Able to follow a single line diagram and design/update as required
  • Understanding and Ability to undertake isolations and earthing safely
  • Understanding and ability to issue permit acceptors

Qualifications:

  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering Diploma
  • HNC (preferred)
  • Preferred 5 years driving experience in a van or similar
  • Further A-level or BTEC in mathematics or similar subject, e.g. business, economics
