HSEQ Manager (031dm) – Durham

Our client is looking
for HSEQ Managers who live in the North East of the country to join their
company.
Overall Objective:
-To manage the reporting
of HSEQ standards on the clients Sites
-To minimise the potential
likelihood of workplace accidents and incidents
-To promote and
encourage increased safety awareness with particular promotion of the company

-Ensuring Health Safety
Environmental Quality compliance is maintained throughout the business
-Promote the Even
Greener Initiative within the company to actively target Net Zero
Key Accountabilities:
-Work closely with
stakeholders managing, assisting, advising, and coaching on all health and
safety issues and work streams while ensuring ethical and legal requirements
are always maintained
-To act as the subject
matter expert for all health and safety matters across company operating areas,
ensuring that technical information and legislative requirements are translated
into the business in a pragmatic and effective way
-The company operate a
fleet of over 700 vehicles and the role will require assistance and support in
this area
-Supporting both
external and internal stakeholders in delivering health and safety compliance
and performance in their business areas, beyond minimum legal compliance
-Partnering with
stakeholders (incl sub contractors) ensuring that health and safety initiatives
enhance and compliment the wider businesses strategy and performance
-Ensure high-risk
hazards are identified monitored and managed across the Group activities with
particular focus on Work at Height, Health issues, Service Strike Avoidance,
Asbestos, Excavations etc
-Provide advice and
assistance to Site Management teams on their duties under HASWA, CDM 2015 and
other associated legislation
-Assist in the
maintenance of the Integrated Management System including ISO 9001(Quality) ISO
14001 (Environmental) ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy
Management)
-Conduct regular HSEQ
inspections and audits to agreed timescales, including relevant management of
own time
-Investigate all
accident, incidents and dangerous occurrences that may occur on site. Establish
the cause and nature of the incident implementing preventative action to avoid
re-occurrences
-Prepare and Chair HSEQ
meetings
General
Responsibilities:
-The company is
committed in achieving a high standard of Health and Safety in all its
activities and the post holder will be expected to contribute to maintaining
standards to ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation
-To take a full role in
the implementation of personal development through appraisals and to
participate in any identified training or development opportunities. The role
will encourage membership of appropriate professional Safety Organisations
e.g., Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH) with Chartered
Membership desirable
-Additional presence
will also be required at local HSE events, local safety forums etc
-To recognise the
importance of fairness and equality in the workplace, to treat everyone with
dignity and respect

-Number of site safety
inspections / month from team
-Submission of accurate
and timely reports

targets set by HSEQ Director

Management
Experience &
Qualifications:
-At least 4 years’
occupational site experience within a Civils /New Build /Utilities background
-NEBOSH General
certificate or equivalent- essential, ideally qualified to NEBOSH Diploma or
equivalent
-Environmental – on site
experience coupled with academic qualification
-Awareness of Management
System audits including ISO 9001, 14001 and ISO 45001
-Awareness of Energy
Saving Opportunities and understanding of key carbon emissions
-Understanding of Waste
Criteria (WAMITAB or similar desirable)

-Excellent people skills
(engaging, listening, and understanding people’s needs)
-Producing and
delivering high quality communications (presentations, reports, and emails)
-Full driving licence
-Suitable integrity,
aware of own competence levels
-An effective
communicator - oral, written and presentation skills as appropriate to their

-Good IT skills
including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel Competent in IT - the provision
